Awarded four stars by the French Tourist Board, La Cour Cachée (or The Hidden Courtyard) is a recently completed 18th century barn conversion, offering truly chic, spacious, holiday gîte accommodation, nestled in the picturesque village of Maillezais in the heart of the Marais Poitevin. The gîte sleeps 10 to 12 comfortably with all conveniences including satellite tv, dvd and surround sound.

Perfectly placed for exploring the treasures of the Vendée, Charente Maritime and Deux Sévres, 30 minutes from La Rochelle and its surrounding sandy beaches.

Maillezais itself is the site of an important 11th century abbey and holds daily attractions throughout the summer. It is also a port into La Venise Verte (as featured in The Observer magazine, October 07, one of the top 20 best kept travel secrets), a labyrinth of verdant waterways where you can hire a barque (small boat) and float off, meandering this rare, lazy world of water full of flora and wildlife.

The Hidden Courtyard provides the perfect backdrop to kickback and relax to the gentle chanting of the Benedictine monks.

We also offer a table d'hôte option to make your holiday experience even more memorable.

We offer outdoor dining, barbecue, table tennis and a rope swing for the young at heart. Tennis courts in the village and a fresh water lake with beach and waterslides is 10 minutes away.

New for 2008 a luxury 1300 litre 25 jet jacuzzi comfortably seating 4-5 people and a private open air  mezzanine lounge with sound system.
